The museum has a fully equipped historical and contemporary forge. The original, more than 100-year-old smithy of Paagman was located at the intersection Nieuwlanderweg – Pontweg. Once it was moved to our museum in De Waal and supplemented with tools and models from other blacksmiths on Texel, the legendary Jan Kiljan was the first blacksmith in the museum.

Demonstration

In the forge, the original blacksmith's fire is burning with which the iron tires used to be pinched around the wagon wheels and horseshoes were mede to measure. There is an impressive arrangement of different tools (grinding stone, sawing machine, drill and lathe) that are driven by one electric motor using long drive belts.
