The museum has a fully equipped historical and contemporary forge. The original, more than 100-year-old smithy of Paagman was located at the intersection Nieuwlanderweg – Pontweg. Once it was moved to our museum in De Waal and supplemented with tools and models from other blacksmiths on Texel, the legendary Jan Kiljan was the first blacksmith in the museum.

The forge is active on two afternoons per week. Forging will be demonstrated and explained. The forge is equipped with all the instruments necessary to fix a metal band around a wagon wheel. In addition, the demonstration includes the forging of a horseshoe. For a nominal fee, a small horseshoe can be made with or without imprint.

Every Tuesday, Wednesday from 2pm till 4pm
